Part One – Snow White, Red Riding Hood and Three Little Pigs
Snow White and Red Riding Hood become lifelong friends as Snow White takes on the might of the wicked Queen, whilst Red is called home to deal with a pair of hungry wolves – one who’s eaten her grandma and then dressed in her clothes, while the other can’t help himself from eating some unsuspecting pigs.
Part Two – Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk
Jack grows up with his heart set on next-door neighbor Cindy. She has her eye turned by the eligible Prince at the ball, and Jack gets distracted by a giant beanstalk at the bottom of his garden. Will they find true love?
My Thoughts
Retellings have been super popular the last few years, so I was excited to see some that were geared toward kids. This definitely had some interesting twists.  First, several different fairy tales are interwoven in each episode. In the first, you had Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, and Snow White. Then you have Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella. To make it even more unique, the Big Bad Wolf is telling the stories, first to a nanny that he abducted and then to Red Riding Hood's kids.
The stories themselves are unique and possibly truer to the originals in the fact that there is a little more violence that the versions in most nursery books. It's not gruesome, but Cinderella's prince likes to chop off heads and Little Red Riding Hood turns the wolves into jackets and one of the pigs who cheated her into a bag. So, keep in mind that really young children might be sensitive to that. My kids thought it was great, and I would love to see more stories like these in the future.

This looks like a fun dvd to watch. I like that two stories are woven into one.
