Cinnamon Snacks That Aide in the Battle Against Tummy Aches from Puffins

You might have heard the recent news that cinnamon helps lower carbon dioxide levels in the stomach, therefore boosting digestive health and curing tummy aches. The RMIT University School of Engineering determined that even a small dose of cinnamon helps to drop carbon dioxide levels in the stomach, aiding with digestion and lowering body temperatures.

Check out this round-up of healthy, cinnamon-flavored products (some that even the kids may like!) that make upping the spice in your diet easy and convenient. Below are just a few:

o   These almond butter truffles are sprouted, organic and this flavor in particular packs the benefits of organic cinnamon and cacao powder. Packaged into 4 bites per sleeve, these can be enjoyed as a guilt-free dessert or afternoon snack.
o   They’re cookies but they’re also minimal on the ingredients, and free from the eight most common food allergens, identified as milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soy. The sprinkling of cinnamon on top will satisfy your sweet tooth while providing all of the potential benefits of the spice.
o   Why not boost your digestive health first thing in the morning with Barbara’s signature line of cereals, Puffins, tout crunchy, pillow-shaped morsels with an authentic cinnamon flavor? All Puffins flavors are lightly sweetened, low fat, 6 grams of sugar or less per serving, and Non-GMO Project Verified.
o   Keep it insanely simple with these cinnamon-flavored Bare Fuji Apple & Banana Chips. The only ingredients are apples and cinnamon or bananas and cinnamon, baked to a crunch with no added sugar.

My Thoughts

Puffins Cereals are one of our favorite breakfast choices. The stores are packed with dozens of cereal choices but its hard to find ones that my kids will eat that aren't filled with artificial ingredients. I didn't really think it was possible to find a natural cereal that didn't taste like card board, but we got a Puffins from Barbara's really does taste great. Their cereals have no artificial preservatives and no artificial colors or flavors.  They are made with 100% whole grain oats and all-natural ingredients.

This fall, the Cinnamon Puffs are the perfect choice to get you in the mood for something sweet without a lot of sugar. This cereal has is packed with flavor and has a great crunch that kids love. While I rarely indulge in my children's cereal, this one isn't too sweet for me, and is suitable for an adult palette as well as for kids.  I'll definitely be stocking my shelves with  Barbara’s Cinnamon Puffins Cereal this season.

Another great thing about this company that is worth pointing out is that they really give back. They are actively involved in helping preserve the natural habitats of seabirds, including their mascot the Puffin. Plus they are a green company that uses environmentally friendly post consumer cardboard in their packaging.
