$50 Goldstar Credit #Giveaway
Deciding what to do with kids during the summer can be tough. Most of the time the good stuff ends up being pretty expensive or you're not exactly sure what's going on in your area. However, Goldstar wants to get parents and kids going out more this summer season. So they've come up with the Smarter Summer program ready to bring fun to your family with events, shows and more in your area for great low prices!
Every year, kids across America experience the “summer slide” when they forget key math and reading skills by as much as two-and-a-half months over the summer break. To help families avoid this setback, Goldstar has teamed up with actor Neil Patrick Harris and educator Peggy O’Brien to create a Smarter Summer program filled with events that get kids’ brains buzzing, with a big emphasis on fun.
Here is what Neil Patrick Harris, father to 5-year-old twins, says about Goldstar’s Smarter Summer program: “My kids start kindergarten this year, but live entertainment is already a big part of their lives. It helps keep them sharp and creative, which is why I love Goldstar’s Smarter Summer campaign so much and encourage other parents to really get their children engaged.”
You can find all kinds of brain-building fun in Goldstar's list of Smarter Summer events.
Peggy O’Brien has some great tips for Turning a Live Event Into a Real-Life Classroom
Tip 1: Before you go: Have everyone write down three words they think will describe the experience.
Tip 2: On the way home: Look at the three words to see if they lived up to expectations, and add three more words that describe what it was really like.
Tip 3: You and the kids should answer the following: What were the two things you noticed and observed and why? What are two things that you wished had happened, but that didn’t?
Tip 4: Google reviews on the event and ask the kids if they agree or disagree with them.
Tip 5: If questions come up during your conversations, do even more research to keep the learning going.
Goldstar makes live entertainment a part of everyday life for more than six million people nationwide. Whether on the site or in the app, it’s fast and easy to discover local live events — from theater and sports to concerts, comedy and more — with tickets typically at half price or better.
