Synopsis:

Discover the true meaning of the holiday season with the live action adaptation of the beloved classic, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Starring Jim Carrey as The Grinch, director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer reimagine one of the most enduring holiday stories of all time.  Why is The Grinch (Carrey) such a grouch? No one seems to know, until little Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen) takes matters into her own hands and turns both Whoville and The Grinch's world upside down, inside out... and funny side up.  Filled with dazzling scenery, special effects, makeup and costumes, this is an adventure “that can make your heart grow three sizes – if you’re not laughing too hard!” (Steve Murray, Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

My Thoughts

I was really excited to see this film released on blu-ray.  My family loves this version of the How the Grinch Stole Christmas as much as the original cartoon. The movie gives us a much deeper look into the Grinch's life that explains why his heart had shrunk so many sizes.  All through school he is subjected to bullying, which is a fate many kids can relate too. Of course, in the end, he overcomes his dark side and embraces the true spirit of the holidays.

Jim Carey is just fabulous in this role. I can't imagine anyone else doing it better. I also love the colorful Who town and Cindy Lou's determination to find the true meaning of Christmas underneath all the materialism. It's a great movie with a great message that adds a whole new dimension to this classic story.
