DVD Review : Tomorrowland

Dreamers Wanted…Disney invites you to an incredible world of epic imagination where anything is possible.  Buckle your seat belt, as the director of The Incredibles takes your family on an action-packed thrill ride.

Join former boy genius Frank (George Clooney), optimistic, science-minded teen Casey (Britt Robertson), mysterious Athena (Raffey Cassidy) and the brilliant David Nix (Hugh Laurie) in a world of pure Disney imagination.  Tomorrowland transports you on an inspiring and magical journey of wonder and adventure to a place where if you can dream it, you can do it.

My Thoughts

Tomorrowland is a sci-fi type film told from two different perspectives. Frank was a child genius brought into the fold of a futuristic city. Later he was kicked out when they started to lose their moral ground. Casey is an optimistic teenager that could be the key to saving Tomorrowland. The two are brought together by the mysterious Athena who was a scout for Tomorrowland back in the 60s, but who was currently a rogue agent with a team of robots out to get her.  Together these three try to find a way back to Tomorrowland or the whole world could be destroyed.

Tomorrowland is a fun movie to watch with the whole family. The blend of teen and adult cast members makes it appealing to all ages.  I enjoyed the film for the most part, but I do think it got off to a bit of a slow start. It felt like forever before Casey and Frank met. After that, things picked up a little. I also found the relationship between Frank and Athena a little disturbing. Even though I understand they met when he was a child and she didn't age, seeing George Clooney making goo-goo eyes at a little girl was a little weird. Those small quibbles aside, it was a great film with an original storyline and my whole family enjoyed it.
