My Thoughts

Everyone knows the story of Cinderella, the beautiful girl mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters until she meets her Prince Charming. However, the story has never been told quite like this.  You start out with a little backstory on Cinderella's life.  You learn about her parents and how she came to live with her stepmother in a little more detail than in the cartoon counterpart.  I love how the movie did have a lot of the same charm as the cartoon, but made even more magical by using real actors and CGI. Yet, there is also so much more depth in this film, especially with the prince who is way more than just a pretty face.

I think my favorite character has to be the Godmother. Helena Bonham Carter  is one of my favorite actresses and there was no better choice for the loving, but easily frazzled fairy. The stepsisters were also fun to watch and Cate Blanchett made you hate the stepmother, but occasionally pity her as well.  However, the entire cast did an amazing job. The acting was suburb, the backdrops and costumes stunning, and the story was as magical to me as it was to my children.

In addition to the feature film, the Blu-ray also includes tons of spectacular  bonus features.  Of course, the most exciting for my children was the theatrical short, Frozen Fever.  This short film gives us a look into the lives of Elsa and Anna now that Elsa has come to terms with her powers. Elsa is planning Anna's birthday and there is cake, music, and a few surprise twists.  Other bonus footage includes the making of the elaborate ballroom,  extra scenes from Ella's childhood, and a behind the scenes look at the animals in the film.

Overall,  this Bluray is a prize that every Disney fan needs to have in their library. The feature film is stunning, and even the bonus features are something to rave about. This is a movie destined to be a classic and something the whole family will enjoy for years to come.
