This weekend my daughter and I spent Saturday night enjoying the perfect chick flick--The Longest Ride. If you haven't heard, this is the newest Nicholas Sparks film, which pretty much guarantees you'll need a box of tissues.
When we sat down to watch this film, I hadn't really heard much about it, and expected it to be a straight cowboy romance. That was part of the story, but there was so much more to it than that. Luke and Sophia meet at a rodeo and hit it off right away, but Sophia has plans to move to New York to work in an art museum. It looks like their first date could be their last--until they meet Ira. From this point on, two love stories merge into one. Ira tells the story of marriage and the struggles he and his wife overcame--from dealing with WWII to infertility. The bond between Sophia and Ira grows even stronger because of their mutual love of art. When Luke has to choose between the dangerous life as a bull rider and a life with Sophia, it's Ira who teaches them how to compromise in the most unexpected of ways. I just loved this story. Luke and Sophia steamed up the TV, but it was Ira and his wife who really touched my heart. It was amazing how they managed to tie the modern and historical romances together so seamlessly. Of course, by the end I was dabbing my eyes. This is one of those love stories you'll want to watch over and over again.
To go along with our movie, we received an awesome gift pack filled with snacks and other goodies including:
