Book Review: Laughter, Tears and Braids

"Product was received for free in exchange for an honest review."

Within six months, an aggressive cancer killed Lisa Ham, a Raleigh, North Carolina mom at the young age of 39. Her husband, Bruce, was left scrambling to pick up the pieces of their life, while maneuvering the world with a broken heart. The responsibilities of being a single father to his three active daughters were overwhelming. Bruce wrestled with his faith and questioned his ability to parent competently without Lisa by his side. But slowly, his wife’s tough spirit inspired Bruce to shape his new normal and to find inner peace and laughter again. Along his personal journey, he became his girls' confidante, while mastering hair dryers, shopping trips, tights and braids

My thoughts:

I could not put this book down when I started reading it.  Having a sister in law with stage four lung cancer, this story touched my heart deeply.  There were parts in this book that Bruce Ham shared that me cry, and than were other parts that made me chuckle out loud.  He even shares his story about his vasectomy, which was quite humorous. His loving honest answers he gives his daughters when questioned about things.  The conversation he had with his daughter Lucy, brought me to tears.

Bruce Ham is a brave man for sharing his personal journey of losing his wife, the mother of his daughters to cancer.  He shares the trips to the doctors he took his wife to, and the results of those visits.  Bruce was always there for his wife, Lisa and by her side when she needed him.  You can feel the endless amount of love he had for his wife as you read this book.

I am honored that I got this book. Everyone should read this!
