March 11, 2014, Los Angeles, CA  -- Hot on the heels of her 100th complete home renovation, celebrity interior designer and master home flipper Nicole Sassaman announced the release of her new book, 100 Sassy Tips: Renovations today.  Filled with practical and time-saving advice, the beautifully photographed book is a must-read for anyone looking for remodeling inspiration.  Nicole’s seasoned, no-nonsense advice is culled from her two decades buying, rehabbing and selling real estate in some of Los Angeles’s most recognizable neighborhoods.
100 Sassy Tips’s nine chapters each tackle a different space within the home: Kitchen, Bathroom, Bedroom, Living Room, Dining Room, Office, Sound Studio, Details and Outdoors.  Examples are designed to help homeowners add as much value as possible to their homes – whether they are working on a shoestring budget or have the goal of ultimate luxury (like having towel warmers in the bathroom).
Key takeaway tips from the book include:
#10 - For open-plan kitchens, use pendant lighting to subtly define the boundary between kitchen and living/dining room (pg 35)
#39 - Never overlook the opportunity to create storage – even a privacy half-wall between the bathtub and toilet can be creatively utilized for storage and display areas (pg 86)
# 59 – Keep it simple – you don’t always need a mantel over a fireplace. Sometimes a beautiful fireplace is a work of art all its own (pg 128)
My thoughts:
This book is a great book.    We are in the process of renovating our bedroom, and are going to incorporate the closet ideas from this book.  My husband is a carpenter and loved the idea from this book.  Especially the idea of removing the soffits in the closet to create more storage.
My mother in law is in the beginning stages of a big addition to her home, and we  showed her some ideas from the book.  There are quite a few different kitchen ideas, and she has her eye set on a couple.  She especially liked the kitchen ones.
This book is very colorful, and shows before and after pictures. The designs in this book are absolutely beautiful.  If you are looking to renovate, add on to your home or just make changes to your existing rooms, this is a book you must look at.
