Blu-ray Review & Giveaway - Designs of Life Collector's Set

Introducing the special collector's edition set of the internationally acclaimed documentaries, FLIGHT: The Genius of Birds and METAMORPHOSIS: The Beauty and Design of Butterflies.

During the past two years, enthusiastic viewers have described these Illustra Media films as "the most amazing documentaries I have ever seen," "a stunning, thrilling look at what God has made," "a joy to watch," and "great science with a profound message." Individually, they have touched global audiences of all ages. Now, they are available together - in one beautiful package - at a special price!

FLIGHT and METAMORPHOSIS are the first two volumes of a new series, The Design of Life. Together, they explore fascinating evidence for intelligent design, while confronting the myth of Darwinian evolution that has long dominated the scientific establishment.

These remarkable films are highlighted by technical and artistic excellence comparable to the BCC, National Geographic, and the Discovery Channel (FLIGHT is currently being broadcast on PBS affiliates throughout the United States). Photographed in North and South America, Europe, Greenland, and Antarctica, they combine stunning images and computer animation with cutting-edge research and original music to reveal the truth about the origin, beauty, and diversity of life on earth.

The FLIGHT/ METAMORPHOSIS dual pack is available in DVD and Blu-ray. Both formats include English subtitles, Stereo and 5.1 Surround audio.

My Thoughts

I always enjoy watching documentaries with my children because they're actually leaning something from them. These films were some of the best I've seen. The Blu-ray set includes two different shows. The first is Flight: The Genius of Birds and gives you a bird's eye view of the life of our feathered friends. From tiny hummingbirds to majestic eagles, you'll follow their flights, watch them gather and build their nests, and watch them perform acrobatics in the sky that will rival anything you'll see in the Olympics.

The second episode follows butterflies, a topic close to my heart at the moment since my beloved Monarchs are becoming endangered. This film follows the lifespan of several species of butterflies including the Monarchs and their miraculous migration to Mexico.  You'll also get to watch their whole life cycle from egg, to caterpillar, to the metamorphosis to butterfly. Scenes are magnified to give you a up close look at things you'd never see with the naked eye.

Both of these documentaries are stunning and educational. They give you a real sneak peek into the life of birds and butterflies, allowing you to see them and appreciate them in so many ways. My children loved them just as much as I did. Watching Designs of Life brings quality to family move night and teaches children to admire and appreciate all that Mother Nature has to offer.
