Give In More Ways Than One This Christmas With World Vision - #Giveaway

 By Tara.

World Vision, a humanitarian non-profit organization with an impressive track record in the fight against poverty, has been helping struggling children and families in the U.S. and around the world for decades. With a financial contribution of as little as $25 to the World Vision Gift Catalog, the gift giver can select one of 36 handcrafted items (a few are listed below) that can be given to a loved one and at the same time help a person in need.

That pretty much says it, folks. This Christmas, buy a hand-crafted gift for a loved one or friend AND at the same time, by doing that, help someone who desperately needs it.

I took a look at some of the items offered in this catalog and chose a bracelet for review.

What they say: "This gorgeous adjustable silver cuff bracelet features an intricately laced vine pattern designed by artisans in Old Delhi, India. This stunning piece is the result of once mistreated jewelry makers banding together to support their families through fair trade practices."

What I say: The brief story behind this stunning piece of artwork makes it all the more precious to have. I love that people mistreated, not only survived, but thrived and turned ugliness into something beautiful down the road.

The design is intricate. I imagine it will get a ton of complimentary compliments. It's very subtly and easily adjustable. Any woman would be proud to wear this on her wrist. I would purchase this for a good girlfriend or lady in my family.

Some other items to consider in the catalog:

- Colors of Africa Bracelet and Earring Set: This gorgeous Zakale jewelry set is handmade from recycled materials by Kenyan artisans reclaiming their own lives from poverty.

- Fair-Trade Coffee Set: This set includes coffee from Ethiopia, Sumatra, and Costa Rica blended by OneCup.org and is delivered in a bag of African fabric hand-sewn by local women with a hand-carved olivewood scoop.

That's just some of what's available. There are more than 100 meaningful gift ranging from 16 dollars to 39,000 and each one helps someone in need--some of them Americans. In America alone, one in every five children lives in poverty. That's ten percent of all children in the U.S. So don't hesitate; consider buying a gift that gives. There's more poverty than you think.
