On August 27,th Barbie is releasing her 26th title – Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess! In this title, Barbie is bringing back the beloved Mariposa character and spreading positive messages, laughter and pink-tastic fun!

Mariposa and her furry friend Zee return in Barbie: Mariposa and the Fairy Princess. In this magical adventure, Mariposa becomes the royal Ambassador of Flutterfield, and is sent to forge a lasting peace between her fairy land and their rivals, the Crystal Fairies of Shimmervale. While Mariposa doesn't make a great first impression on their King, she becomes fast friends with his shy daughter, Princess Catania. However, a misunderstanding causes Mariposa to be banished from the fairy land. As Mariposa and Zee return to Flutterfield, they encounter a dark fairy on her way to destroy Shimmervale.

 My Thoughts

Since I have both a thirteen-year-old and a three-year-old daughter, Barbie movies have been a part of my life for quite a while. We have the whole collection from The Princess and the Pauper to the newer fairy editions. Of course, no one can do magic like Barbie and Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess is no exception. Mairposa has already had her share of adventures. but its not over yet for this sparkling fairy. This time around, she is named the Royal Ambassador of Flutterfield. Her job is to help ensure peace with the Crystal Fairies, but she makes a few mistakes and not everything goes according to plan. Even  though she befriends the princess Catania, she finds herself banished from fairyland. Of course that doesn't stop Marisposa from rushing to their aid when a dark fairy threatens all of fairyland.

Even as an adult. I just loved this movie. The colors are striking and vibrant and the cast of characters are instantly endearing. I especially love Marisposa's little sidekick Zee who stands by her side no matter how much trouble she gets into. There is lots of action and adventure, which the underlying message that even if you're different, you can still be friends. My younger daughter loved it and would watch it six times a day if I let her and even my teenager grudgingly admits she enjoyed it. This is a great film for family movie night and a DVD every little girl should have in her collection.

If you are interested in getting the new  Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess toys or DVD, they are available now in stores nationwide including Target or online at Mattel . Also be sure to visit Barbie on face book.
