It's summer and that means cookout time and no cookout/barbecue is a complete without chips and dip. But folks are getting awful health conscious...women want to lose ten more pounds, older people are worried about gluten or cholesterol, there's the low-carb thing...

You need a healthy chip.

Look no further than RW Garcia's tortilla chips. They offer classic, flax, seed, mixed bag...all healthy and gluten free, free of artificial ingredients, free of oil and trans fats, organic.

Let's go over the items I received:

English Cheddar Dippers
What they say: Inspired by the sharpest, creamiest English cheddar, these chips combine the gourmet blend of cheddar cheese and caramelized onions that are rich in tangy flavor. English Cheddar Dippers are the ultimate snack right out of the bag.

What I say:
These were probably my favorite. At first I didn't like them. These are very unlike regular potato chips. It's so different, at first it's a surprise. It's not what you expect a chip to taste like. Imagine when you try a new wine and the taste makes you screw up your face at first, but the second sip is good. The cheese flavor is subtle. They could do with a bit more cheese powder. But I liked these enough that after that second and third chip, I snacked on these without dip.

Sweet Potato Dippers
What they say: Hearty and wholesome with the perfect combination of sweet and savory. These Dippers have the sweetness of sweet potato baked right in with the corn.

What I say: I didn't like these at first either. They tasted burnt to me. The husband, however, liked them fine, and once I mixed them with red pepper hummus, I like them too. This is just one of those dip-required chips. As with the cheddar dippers though, loved the crunch. I found all these chips to be crunchier than regular store-bought chips. That's a plus.

Salsa Mixtbag
What they say: Delicious yellow and blue corn tortilla chips spiced with just the right amount of a zesty seasoning for added kick.

What I say: Good. Liked these. Again, I used these on red pepper hummus and found it to be a great combination. Also tried them with guacamole and Rotel cheese dip. Hey, if you're eating a healthy chip, that means you can eat an unhealthy dip and break even, right? LOL I noticed these didn't have that strong, somewhat overpowering seed taste as the other two.

I also tried 3-seed bag and Classic Mixtbag. Again, found the seed taste a bit overpowering in the former. The latter was more like your average everyday chip, but crunchier.

In conclusion: I like the crunch, could go either way with the seed flavor, but love the gluten-freeness of them.

I would serve them at a barbecue and my husband liked them so much, he was eating them without dip.

On that note, RW Garcia is having a photo FB contest over on their page. Go check it out and see how you can win some chips.
