My Thoughts
I live at the Jersey shore and my family and I spend a lot of time on the beach. Of course the kid's favorite part of every beach visit is their time in the ocean. They love the waves. They love body surfing, boogie boarding, or wading through as they look for shells. This weekend was our first visit to the shoreline for the summer season, and we had a extra special activity to enjoy. We were one of the very first people in the country to try out the newly launched D6 SurfSkimmer, and its definitely going to make our summer even more exciting than usual.
The SurfSkimmer, as its name implies, is a water skimmer. What makes this one special is that its designed for younger children to help them get their feet wet. Its comparable to a scooter, which is really just a skateboard with a handle. Like a scooter, the SurfSkimmer has a handle that allows kids to learn to balance their weight along the waters edge and control the skim board. My son had a regular skim board last summer and he got frustrated with it quickly. He kept falling off. However, the SurfSkimmer was easy to manipulate and he was gliding along the coastline in no time at all, and getting many envious looks from the all the other kids at the beach.
Using the board was really easy. All the child has to do, is run and jump on just as the waves are coming it. The momentum allows them to glide along he whitewash. Once the kids get older and have mastered their board, the handle can be removed to turn the board into a more traditional skimmer.
