Sugarcane is a renewable resource that grows at the same rate, or faster, than we use it and helps reduce the need to harvest trees to make paper. Sugarcane reaches maturity in just 15 to 16 months, while trees grown for paper in the tropics take 7 to 10 years to reach maturity. Using sugarcane also creates added value from an agricultural by-product. After sugarcane milling at the factory, the fiber is processed in a cellulose plant and the pulp produced is turned into sheets of paper

My Thoughts

I like to  hand write the first drafts of my novels so I always have a few notebooks on hand. Even though I always recycle when I'm done with my paper, I still felt a little guilty that I was helping to cut down trees every time I bought another notebook. With the Sustainable Earth Eco-Line, I don't have to feel guilty because the paper is made from sugarcane. In addition to being Eco-friendly, they also have stylish covers that are thick and make it easy to write no matter where you go. Inside you'll find convenient pockets, and thick paper that doesn't blotch easily. The sugarcane copy paper is also nice and thick. Its great for making copies or printing manuscript in color or in black and white. The ink won't smear and kids will also love to draw on it.

Sustainable Earth by Staples Calculator and Stapler 

Both the outside of the calculator and stapler are made from old recycled ink and toner cartridges, comprised in part by what Staples collects as part of its Rewards program.

My Thoughts

I love, love, love this idea! I often drop off my old ink cartridges at by local Staples and I wondered what they were doing with them. Now I know. Those old cartridge are being re-purposed into brand new products like calculators and staplers. I received one of each to try and was very impressed with both. The stabler is very sturdy and has a nice grip. I don't use them myself very often, but my husband was happy to take it for the paperwork at the office.  The calculator is even cooler. It has a big screen and big keys, which makes it easier for me to see. I was also excited to see that its solar powered so I won't need to buy batteries which makes them even better for the environment.
