WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT LEADERSHIP FROM MY DOG
by John Covington
While training his German Shepherd for search and rescue, it was obvious that the relationship building and leadership required to work with his dog was exactly the same as with people. Dogs are great labs to improve our leadership as they give you instant feedback, have little or no ego, and if there is a problem, it's always the human's fault.

Our thoughts:
I figured I’d like John Covington’s What I Learned about Leadership from My Dog, since I’ve had many of the same kind of thoughts about leadership. And it was exactly in line with my thinking! It is full of excellent, proven leadership tactics for both dogs and people and ties them together nicely, showing how leadership for dogs can cross over into leadership for people and vice versa. There are many anecdotes on both sides, and what was learned from each experience. I can think of many situations from when I was working outside the home full time that this book certainly could have helped. You don’t need to be a high powered exec or run an obedience school for dogs to get great ideas out of this book. These ideas and tactics can be employed from the highest leadership position to our everyday lives, to improve the relationships we have with others, which is what it’s all really about. Highly recommended!
