"I am an architect. More significantly I am a female
architect - born of an incredibly determined woman paralyzed from polio
at age 17 - with a journey to share." Clouse's Houses is not about
architecture, but is rather an inspirational tapestry, woven with a
thread of architecture. It is about nature, art, relationships, and a
little bit about dogs. But these are just the stories that unfold to
tell a deeper journey of challenge, change, compassion, and creativity.
Clouse's Houses is about seeking and discovering, and soaking in the
spirit of life.

Our Thoughts
I like to read stories of personal challenges and triumphs; get someone else’s perspective on things. It reminds me of the quote about walking a mile in someone else’s shoes. Having earlier read a small sample of Carol Clouse’s work, I was intrigued to read “Clouse’s Houses”. And I’m glad I did. It’s full of humor, creativity, heartfelt emotion, and thought provoking experiences, all wound around being an architect. Well-written, well put-together. There were many parts of the book that could have been straight out of my own thoughts and experiences; each chapter left me thinking. I don’t know a lot about architecture, so that part of it alone was fascinating to me as we’ve renovated and rebuilt our 1901 home from the inside out, trying to stay closer to period correct rather than just new and convenient. I especially appreciated Carol’s experiences and thoughts about nature and being in the woods as I feel strongly connected to the earth, myself. Carol wrote about the people in her life; people that inspired her in many ways. Then there were the dog stories. All in all, I highly recommend Clouse’s Houses – a good, thought-provoking, creative, inspirational read.

I was happy to see your review here. I know Carol. We live in the same town in Montana and connected through art. She is an amazing artist as well as an amazing writer. I couldn't wait to read her book and found it thought provoking just as you did!
