Our Thoughts
At first I was all, why would you give a hot water
bottle as a gift? I don’t get it. But man, NOW I get it!! This may be
my new best friend . . .
I
have a hot water bottle, an older rubber red one I bought about 15
years ago. It’s the same style as the one I grew up with that was a
lovely shade of 1970’s avocado green. Rubber hot water bottles don’t
smell great; even after 15 years they still smell like rubber. Despite
that, it still sees a lot of mileage. During our cold Minnesota winter
nights, I spoil myself by putting it under the covers at the foot of the
bed to keep my feet warm. I can’t sleep if I’m cold. Luxury at its
best . . . or so I thought!
I
am not ashamed to say I used this new hot water bottle from Warm
Tradition almost right out of the package. Twice, in fact. Once during
the day to help relax some tight shoulder muscles, then at night to
keep my feet warm since I knew a cold front was coming through. I LOVE
the fleece cover!! While I had to fill the bottle with hotter water
than I usually do (because of the cover), the heat lasts much longer
than with the rubber bottle. It was still cozy warm at 4am, when my son
decided it was time to get up, silly kid.
One
of the features I like best over my old bottle is that it is much more
slim and trim. The rubber one I have has thicker walls and can get
uncomfortable if I lay with it under my neck, partially under my head.
This one, being so much more trim, is super comfortable to lay on . . .
and super cozy with the fleece cover. I’m a crafty gal, I sew. I
don’t know why I never thought to make a fleece cover for my old one!!
The
only thing I didn’t like was that I thought the cover was a little
difficult to get off and on without damaging the stitching on the
elastic. You don’t have to take the cover off – but it’s nice that you
can for washing purposes. It’s easier to fill the hot water bottle from
a high faucet, and I was trying to fill it at my bathroom sink, my bad,
I know! I kept getting the cover wet, so off it came. Then I had to
wrangle it back on after filling the bottle. But, even if you get
fleece wet, it dries super quick since it isn’t an absorbent fabric. I
should have just left the cover on, LOL!!
The
covers come in all sorts of cute prints; lots of choices for men,
women, and kids. HUGE thumbs up from me; the Warm Tradition Hot Water
Bottles are great!
