Book Review: My Pirate’s Tale by Bonnie Lee Medeiros

My Pirate’s Tale by Bonnie Lee Medeiros is a colorfully illustrated and prop-filled treasure chest with a wonderfully told children’s story about a young boy named David who received a special funny shaped gift from his best friend on his birthday. When he opens it up he finds a treasure chest filled with everything he needs to be a great pirate!

He looks through the telescope and in a blink of his eye, he finds himself on a pirate ship in the middle of the ocean.

He is off on an adventure searching for lost treasure! He meets Captain Charlie …

…who gives him a map with an X on it and they head off to a lost island to find the buried treasure.

They must pass through an impenetrable wall of whales. They have to find the right island and land on the beach, and follow the map to the right spot.

Will they find the treasure? What will happen to David next? Will he get home to his family?

Our Thoughts

The Pirate book is great for children! My son is 7 and he really enjoyed the story, and that idea that he could take his own pictures to put in the book!
This book is an innovative way to get children involved and active instead of just sitting while the story is being read. I am sure had we had the treasure chest,
my son would have been in pirate heaven!

I would definitely recommend this book to other parents with small children through the age of about 9. The fact that they can create their own story, at the end is
super exciting! Such a great way to teach them to use their imagination and have fun reading! You can't go wrong with the purchase of this book!!!!
