Holiday Gift Guide - Kinderfeets Review & Giveaway

Willow is getting bigger, and she's been watching her older brother and sister ride their bikes with an envious eye. So I figured its time to start looking for a bike just for her. If  you have a toddler itching to get a set of wheels, a great place to look is Kinderfeets. Kinderfeets offers a balance bike that was created just for toddlers. There are no pedals. They just push it along with their feet. They are the perfect way to get your kids started on bike riding.  Balance bikes seem to be the new trend, but Kinderfeets bikes are a little different form the rest. Here are some of their unique features:

  • A Dutch inspired, low, step through frame which places children’s feet closer to the ground so they feel safe
  • An ergonomically designed seat and handlebar position to encourage good posture and maximize comfort
  • Foot-pegs which help children position their feet properly for cruising and to prepare for pedals
  • An adjustable, cushioned, washable seat
  • A variety of color choices in a chalkboard finish – nurturing children’s creativity by allowing them to decorate their Kinderfeets and truly make it their own
  • Biodegradable EVA airless tires
  • Certification by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) (the push bikes are made from the wood of fast growing birch trees and every tree used to create a Kinderfeets is replanted)
  • Kinderfeets uses minimal packaging made from recycled paper to further decrease the company’s carbon footprint
  • Kinderfeets has received the following awards/recognition: The Toy Man® eco-Recognition SealTM, The Toy Man’s “Q2 Top Ten Award”, The Toy Man  Award of Excellence, The Toy Man Award of Recognition, The Toy Men eChoice Award, Creative Child’s Magazine’s 2012 Top Toy of the Year Award

Willow was so excited when our bike arrived. She was jumping up and down the whole time my husband was putting it together. Luckily, assembly was really simple. There were just a few steps involved and in less than ten minutes, it was ready to go. Like any bike, it took a little while for Willow to get the hang of it. She had to learn to balance her weight to keep from falling off. Luckily, she has a big brother and sister who were here to help her every step of the way. After a few weeks, she was able to control the bike by herself with just pushing her feet. This will give her a head start when she's ready for a bike with pedals, and she probably won't need training wheels as long. She may not need them at all! For now, she feels like a big girl because she's riding down the sidewalk on her very own bike!

There were several things about the Kinderfeets that really stood out in comparison to other balance bikes. As a green mom, one of my favorite features is that the bike is eco-friendly. The body of the bike is made from wood instead of plastic. I also love the no air tires. There are no worries about flat tires with this cool bike. It comes in six different colors (yellow, green, pink, black, red, and blue) so there is plenty of variety
