Sound of My Voice Blu-ray Review

Brit Marling is "intoxicating" (The Huffington Post) and "stirring" (PEOPLE) in the year's most talked-about psychological thriller. A filmmaker (Christopher Denham) and his girlfriend (Nicole Vicius) set out to expose the beautiful leader of a cult (Marling), who claims to be from the future. But the more they explore, the more danger they face in this ""an intricate and taut thriller" (Claudia Puig, USA Today) from writer-actress Marling and writer-director Zal Batmanglij.

 Our Thoughts:

This movie left me with mixed emotions. On the one hand, I loved how it delved into cult life. I was entranced with Brit Merling's performance, but it left me wanting more. The film is advertised as a psychological thriller. I found it interesting, but not thrilling. In fact, for the most part, it was very predictable. The story revolves around a cult that are preparing for some sort of post apocalyptic future. Their leader is a sickly girl who claims to have come back from 2054 to lead her chosen followers to safety. A teacher, who lost his mother due to her involvement in cults, goes under cover to try to reveal her as a fraud. But he finds himself drawn to her and even starting to believe in her. In the end the truth comes out, but leaves you with some unanswered questions. There are a few people lurking around, and their real involvement is never really explained. Its hard to say more without spoilers. I know that somethings should be left to imagination, but I would have liked to have know a little more details before the abrupt ending.
