August is a BIG BIG travel and vacation month as families across the U.S. are getting out and about on day trips and vacations and creating summer fun memories!  And, for a second year running, The Jim Henson Company and Amtrak have joined forces for a national promotion!  This year it’s the Big Big Dinosaur Sweepstakes, a fun and engaging summertime promotion that will award one lucky family with an Amtrak vacation!  Amtrak will launch the Big Big Dinosaur Sweepstakes beginning in August 2012.  Families can enter the sweepstakes by logging onto www.henson.com/Dtsweepstakes and following the entry directions for a chance to win a vacation to Chicago and Washington, DC and the opportunity to visit the National Museum of Natural History, featuring exhibits with amazing  dinosaurs! 

As part of the national summer promotion, Amtrak will distribute over 65,000 free DINOSAUR TRAIN themed activity booklets to young travelers, and one million Amtrak DINOSAUR TRAIN ticket jackets to passengers as well as 20,000 DINOSAUR TRAIN placemats for use in Amtrak’s dining cars. Amtrak will also promote the Big Big Dinosaur Sweepstakes and entry details through counter and seatbacks in over 100 Amtrak stations nationwide.  Sweepstakes details will be posted on the websites of Amtrak, The Jim Henson Company and TOMY. 

DINOSAUR TRAIN’S NEW “BIG, BIG DINOSAURS!” GIANT COLORING BOOK FROM GOLDEN BOOKS!

NEWLY available on August 7 from Golden Books is the 40-page Dinosaur Train: Big, BIG Dinosaurs! Giant Coloring Book!  Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, Don, and their super-sized dinosaur friends from Dinosaur Train star in this BIG activity book. “BIG BIG DINOSAUR WEEK” TO PREMIERE ON PBS KIDS

“Big Big Dinosaur Week” episodes will premiere August 13 on PBS KIDS. Throughout the week of August 13-17, 2012, "Big Big Dinosaur Week" will feature four new episodes that follow Buddy, Shiny, Tiny and Don as they discover the largest of the dinosaur species while exploring their natural surroundings. They'll also learn about nocturnal and diurnal animals, sunrises and sunsets, natural art, and geysers. The kick-off episode begins aboard the DINOSAUR TRAIN when the Pteranodon family gets the idea to travel around and meet some of the biggest dinosaurs. They even sing the song ”The Biggest Dinosaurs,” before meeting Allie Alamosaurus, an enormous and friendly long-necked, plant eating sauropod.  Encore broadcasts will run from August 17 to 19th (check local listings).
