Commander Set 2 Coming to DVD April 3rd

I have always been a fan of crime television. There is something about a good murder mystery that really gets your adrenaline pumping. When the show in question also features a strong female commander, its even better. With the amazing Commander Set 2 on DVD, you will be getting more than 400 minutes of back to back action that will leave you at the edge of your seat. Just sit back and enjoy British drama at its best. I had never seen this series before getting this DVD set to review, but let me tell you, once I got it I was so enthralled I watched the complete set in only a few days.  Even if you haven't seem the first set, this one can stand on its own.  Here is a little bit of info about the series.

From the creator of the Emmy®-winning series Prime Suspect comes the DVD debut of the final mysteries of The Commander, Set 2 arriving on April 3, 2012 from Acorn Media. Amanda Burton (Silent Witness) stars as the ambitious and exacting Commander Clare Blake in these four feature-length crime dramas from Lynda La Plante. Supported by an outstanding ensemble cast, Burton delivers a powerhouse performance as the complex and driven Blake. Broadcast on ITV in the U.K. between 2007 and 2008 and available to U.S. audiences for the first time with its release, this gripping series brims with tension and excitement in the vein of La Plante’s hit mysteries, Prime Suspect, Trial & Retribution and Above Suspicion. The DVD 3-disc set includes The Commander’s final four mysteries (Series 4 and 5, $49.99, www.AcornOnline.com).

Leading New Scotland Yard’s Murder Review Team has Commander Clare Blake (Amanda Burton) feeling trapped in her office. Eager to get back to investigative work, Blake welcomes a transfer to the Homicide and Serious Crime division, where she’s assigned to a slate of difficult cases. Ambitious, imperious, and dedicated, Blake keeps her private life separate from her work—until two deeply personal crimes threaten everything she has worked for.

The series co-stars Mark Lewis Jones (The Other Boleyn Girl) with guest stars Greg Wise (Sense & Sensibility), James D’Arcy (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World), Celia Imrie (Bridget’s Jones’s Diary) and Simon Williams (Upstairs, Downstairs).

Disc 1
The Devil You Know: Part 1
When the perfectly preserved body of a two-year-old girl is found at an abandoned mental hospital, Blake and DCI James pursue two former patients. Eric Thornton is a schizophrenic, John Littlewood a violent drug user.

The Devil You Know: Part 2
Clare clashes with the drug squad, which is running a parallel investigation into Eric Thornton’s employer. The child’s death remains a mystery, and Clare is accused of having blood on her hands.

Fraudster: Part 1
When self-made millionaire Donald Griffith is found dead in his swimming pool, it seems like justice. Turns out, he was a complete fraud—cheating on his wife with two women, duping his clients out of millions of pounds. Assistant Commissioner Branton asks Clare to look into the case.

Disc 2
Fraudster: Part 2
Clare learns that Griffith’s wife and mistresses all stand to benefit if his death was not a suicide. At a crucial moment, Clare’s old friend appears and offers to lend a hand. Of course, he has ulterior motives.

Windows of the Soul: Part 1
After a popular priest is stabbed 29 times in his church, Clare interrupts her holiday to investigate the murder. The troubled neighborhood was the scene of deadly riots five years earlier, and tensions still run high between the residents and the police.

Windows of the Soul: Part 2
A vicious attack puts a police officer in the hospital. Clare learns that there’s more to the story than DCI Doug James has told her so far: the death of an innocent bystander during the riots, and allegations of abuse against the priest.

Disc 3
Abduction: Part 1
Clare is assigned to investigate the bludgeoning death of an elderly woman as quickly and quietly as possible. The prime suspect is DS Brian Hall, a former member of her murder team. DCI Doug James refuses to accept that his old colleague is a murderer, and he has other things on his mind: his wife, Zoe, is about to give birth.

Abduction: Part 2
Did Brian kill his own mother in an alcoholic haze? Who stole Doug and Zoe’s baby? Clare feels the heat of two high-profile cases with personal connections. Brian remembers nothing of the night his mother was murdered—until an attack in prison jars his memory.

Abduction: Part 3
Brian believes that someone else was in the room with him when he found his mother’s body. Doug fears that he will never see his son again. Clare commits a sudden, impetuous act that puts her career in grave jeopardy.
