I have always been a fan of crime television. There is something about a good courtroom that really gets your adrenaline pumping. With the The Brief on DVD, you will be getting more than 500 minutes of back to back action that will leave you at the edge of your seat. Just sit back and enjoy British drama at its best. I had never seen The Brief before getting this DVD set to review, but let me tell you, once I got it I was so enthralled I watched the complete set in only five days. Here is a little bit of info about the series.
The witty courtroom drama from the creators of Inspector Morse, The Brief: Complete Collection, debuts on DVD from Acorn Media on February 28, 2012. Alan Davies (Jonathan Creek) stars in the seriocomic misadventures of clever criminal law barrister Henry Farmer, whose every day is a juggling act between surviving his messy personal life and pleading cases only he can win. Broadcast on ITV between 2004 and 2005 and syndicated on public television, the DVD 4-Vol. complete collection includes all eight episodes of this “jolly lawyer drama” (The Financial Times) ($59.99, www.AcornOnline.com).
Whether he’s trying to keep an innocent person from going to jail or save himself from financial ruin, Henry Farmer’s life is a symphony of chaos, both inside and outside the courtroom. His long list of problems includes a mountain of gambling debts, an affair with an important politician’s wife (Zara Turner, Sliding Doors), a distant son, and a sharp-tongued father—who’s also a judge.
Working with tough colleague Cleo Steyn (Cherie Lunghi, Excalibur) and alongside a cast of colorful characters (including Christopher Fulford, Millions; George Innes, Upstairs, Downstairs; and Linda Bassett, Calendar Girls), Henry will need all his wit and charm to secure justice for his clients and a reprieve for himself.
Episodes: The Road to Hell; So Long, Samantha; Children; A Sort of Love; Blame; Lack of Affect; Forever on the Mind; The Architect’s Wife
If you want to take advantage of a full box set that is loaded with mystery and intrigue, than this is the series for you. You can order The Brief: Complete Collection beginning on February 28th, for only $59.99 at Acorn Media.
