There are a handful of places that I want to see before I die--the Egyptian Pyramids, Stone Hedge, and one of the top of my lists is Easter Island. This is a place heaped with mystery. How did people come to be on this island in the middle of nowhere. What drove them to create the large Moai Heads that stare out into the vastness of the water. How were the primitive people able to create such detailed works of art? How did they lift the heavy ten ton rocks? Why do some of them seem to wear hats while other do not? Were they images of Gods? Ancient aliens? Or maybe the product of a senile chieftain's rantings (my husband I just watched a movie last week where this the case). It is one of those mystery's that we can only guess at, but the statues will always hold a magic all their own. Someday, when my children are grown and I have the time and money to travel, I hope to see them in person, and maybe even feel the energy they radiate.
