I firmly believe that you can never have too many bags. I carry a variety of bags with me everywhere I go from hand bags to diaper bags to canvas bags for grocery shopping. I love my crime shows, but sometimes they can be a little too intense. If you want to see some great mysteries solved in a more lighthearted way, then Pie in the Sky Series 5 is a wonderful series to watch. Detective Henry Crab will remind you of a jolly Santa Claus, and you will love watching his struggle to balance his near retirement as a detective and his dream of owning his own pie shop. This series still has all the drama and mystery you expect, but the characters also throw in a little humor along the way. The final season will not be a disappointment and you won't want to miss all the fun DVD extras. Here is a little info on the DVD release:
DI Henry Crabbe divides his time between catching criminals and cooking. He retired from the force to open his dream restaurant, but his boss is determined to keep him on the payroll. A private security firm seems remarkably well informed about ongoing crime, and Crabbe suspects it’s benefiting from inside information. Suspicion falls on a detective with shady connections and a drinking problem—but Fisher is more interested in recruiting the man for the police soccer team.
Episode 6: The Apprentice
Crabbe gives a teenager a part-time job at Pie in the Sky, but money goes missing from the cash register and the boy disappears soon after. The detective discovers that the youth is mixed up with a gang of violent thugs the police have been chasing.

Episode 7: In the Smoke
The Crabbes take a getaway to London and stay at the apartment of a well-heeled ex-policeman who’s out of town. After hearing a disturbing message on the man’s answering machine, Margaret starts to worry about his well-being.
Episode 8: Smelling of Roses
Crabbe is losing his sense of taste and smell, but hasn’t yet lost his nose for the truth. When Fisher orders him to investigate a wealthy businessman for no apparent reason, Crabbe begins to smell a rat.

If you have a grade school child or a tween, you probably know that scooters are the in thing. I barely ever see kids riding on bikes anymore. It always scooters. There are tons of different ones out there. Some of them are motorized, some can convert into a skateboard. But the coolest scooter I have come across to date is the Rockboard. While it can be used as a regular foot push scooter, it also provides revolutionary propulsion without the need for batteries or gasoline. Check out the video below to see how it works.
We were lucky enough to receive an amazing Rockboard to review and my son was thrilled with it. It arrived just the other day, and I thought it would be awhile before I would be able to try it out because I'm not the best at putting things together. But I was excited to see there was no assembly required. You just need to unfold it and its ready to go. You can leave the board down and use it as a regular kick scooter, or you can really fly by putting up the rocker mechasim. It works kind of like a sea saw by pumping the board up and down which keeps you moving at a much faster pace than kicking alone.
My son just turned nine, and I will be honest, he is having a little bit of a hard time using the Rockboard in the rocker form. It takes a lot of balance to stay on and pump the device hard enough to keep it going. But every day he is doing a little better, and I'm sure in a few weeks, he will have the hang of it. My daughter, who is eleven, was able to do it a little better, but even she couldn't go very far yet without losing her balance. But I actually like the idea of it being challenging. You can't use a skateboard the first time you try it either. The Rockboard is encouraging them to work hard and will help improve their balance and coordination. It also gets them up off their butts and away from the video games for awhile.
The Rockboard is available in a variety of fun colors including orange, pink, blue and white. It comes in both regular size for kids eight and up as well as a mini version for younger kids. I love my hard wood floors, but with a house filled with crawling babies and toddlers learning to walk, its necessary for me to have an area rug to protect little knees from bumps and bruises. Willow is eighteen months old and we have started what I believe is one of the most challenging parts of child rearing--potty training. She is actually doing pretty well in comparison to my two older kids, but its still a messy job. We're making it about 50% of the time. Pork Chops in Apple Jalapeno Barbecue SauceIngredients
1 21-ounce can LUCKY LEAF ® Premium Apple Pie Filling
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 to 1/2 cup sliced fresh jalapeno peppers, seeds removed*
2 canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, chopped
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 6-ounce can tomato paste
1/4 cup molasses
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
4 pork rib chops, cut 1-inch thick
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
Preparation 1. For the Apple Jalapeno Barbecue Sauce, in a medium saucepan combine apple pie filling, the vinegar, onion, cilantro, jalapenos, chipotle, chili powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and the cumin. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes or until jalapenos are tender. Remove from heat. Use an immersion blender to blend the mixture in the saucepan, or cool slightly and transfer to a food processor or blender. Cover and process or blend until smooth. Return mixture to saucepan, if needed. Whisk in tomato paste, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered 15 minutes, or until sauce thickens to desired consistency. Cover and refrigerate unused portion up to 2 weeks.
2. Season chops with 1/2 teaspoon salt and the pepper. In a very large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add chops to skillet and cook 5 minutes, turning once, until nicely browned. It is always a hassle trying to get my kids to brush their teeth. They fight me tooth and nail and I normally have to stand there and watch them to make sure they do it. Part of the problem is that they don't like the toothpaste. They say the adult ones burn their mouths, but they hate the bubblegum flavor that the kid's brands normally come in.
