Our Thoughts: The Help is a wonderful movie about having to strength to break down social barriers. I love how Disney managed make the characters seem real and sympathetic, without coming off as preachy. The cast, led my Emma Stone, gives a stellar performance. I loved watching the relationship between the characters grow and flourish. Its a wonderful way to teach your children that friendships can be formed between anyone, no matter what their race, color, or creed. Its also a great example of female empowerment, because all the woman overcome not only the barriers of color but of their sex. They fight to have their voices to be heard in the 1960's, when women were still considered the weaker sex. This is the type of movie you will want to watch again and again. Its sure to become a classic along the lines of "Gone with the Wind" and "The Color Purple." I am hoping that it takes home the gold in multiple categories this year in the academy awards.
