Holiday Gift Guide - Mobi Review & Giveaway
If you are looking for some unique gift ideas this holiday season, a great place to start is Mobi. Teens, tweens, and even the occasional grown up will love Headphonies. These adorable gadgets come in a wide range of styles including sports themes, sumo wrestlers, ninjas, monkeys and more. They are only about the size of your hand, but they produce an amazing amount of sound. You can plug them into your iPod, MP3 Player, DS, computers and more. My husband actually grabbed the sumo wrestler we received to review. He hooked it into his laptop and the sound quality was so much better than the speakers the computer came with. Kids will love the fun shapes, and they are the perfect size for a stocking stuffer.
For the younger kids, Mobi offers a very unique night light called the GloMate. It comes with a charger that you plug in and place the GloMate on it for a few hours. Once its charged, you will see your Mobi come to life in a variety of colors including red, blue and green. It actually cycles through all the colors for as long as its turned on. But what makes it really cool is that it can detach from the charger and it still glows. If fully charged, it will maintain its glow for up to 10 hours. Kids can play with it, snuggle with it under the covers, and take it with them wherever they go. Its a fun way to provide that little extra bit of security for little ones.
The Headphonies and the GloMate are the two cool items I received to review. But Mobi has lots of other neat gadgets including their digital thermometer. One lucky New Age Mama reader is going to receive one of these for themselves. To enter, just visit Mobi and tell me another item you would love to have. Holiday Gift Guide - Mixbook Review & Giveaway (2 Winners)
I must have taken thousands of pictures of Willow since she was born. But I haven't printed enough to fill up even one photo album. Its just so much hassle to take the time to pick out the best ones and print them. But when people come over they always ask to see pictures and they don't want to look on my computer. Now, thanks to Mixbook, I have the perfect way to show off my baby.
With Mixbook, you can get all your favorite pictures printed in one wonderful book. But this isn't like other photo book companies. It isn't just plain pictures in an album. Mixbook creates hardcover works of art out of your photos. You can go onto their website and design your own book, choosing from dozens of themes and hundreds of accessories. Its like being able to make a scrapbook, only it takes half the time and there is no mess to clean up with your done.
If you aren't computer savvy, don't worry. Mixbook walks you through every step of the process. You can add photos in page by page, adding words and stickers along the way. You can mix and match backdrops and borders. The possibilities are endless and the result is something you will treasure forever. I made a book with all my favorite pictures from Willow's first year. Here are just a few of the pages.
I was absolutely thrilled with the results. I have always wanted to do a scrap book, but I'm honestly just way too lazy. With Mixbooks, the final product looks just like a scrapbook only better. You don't have to worry about glue or tape drying out as the years pass. Someday when Willow is all grown up, we'll be able to look back at this book and it will still be in perfect condition. Mixbooks are a wonderful way to commemorate all your special occasions including weddings, births, birthdays, and holidays. They also offer cards, calenders and more. Check them out today and see what's it like to make a memory you can hold in your hands.
In honor of the holiday season, two lucky winners will each receive a $20 Photo book. To enter, visit Mixbook and tell me something interesting you learned. For additional entries you can follow them on twitter and/or become their fan on face book. This giveaway is open to the US only and will end on 12/19/10.

Holiday Gift Guide - Druide Skincare Review & Giveaway
Sometimes you just see the name of a company and you know they are perfect for you. This is what happened to me when I came across Druide. Even before they sent me some of their amazing skin and haircare products to try out, I was already entranced with them. The ancient Druids are one of my favorite subjects. I read every book I can get my hands on that includes them. The Druids were the ancient Celtic wise men. They were the bards, the mystics, and the healers. As healers, they would know a lot about herbs and their many uses. Skincare products, at least good ones, are herb based, holistic remedies. And Druide is the perfect name for company that makes quality organic skincare products using only natural ingredients.
For our review, I was sent a gift pack of their baby products. The calming soap is made from Mango Butter and Chamomile which gives it a pleasant, sweet scent but its still delicate enough for baby's skin. The shampoo is made from hibiscus. It lathers nicely, but does not burn the baby's eyes. Willow's hair looked shiny and healthy after just one use. The lotion is also Hibiscus and smells so nice I am also using it for my older kids as well as the baby. The pump dispenser allows for just the right amount to be dispersed each time so the kids won't overdue it and make a mess. And finally the protecting balm worked wonders on clearing up a pesky diaper rash that just wouldn't go away.
Of course, Druide also offers a full line of products for adults including lotions, lip balms, shampoos, massage oils and more. They even have some nice gift packs that would make a great gift this holiday season. All of their products are made with only all natural and organic and ingredients. So you can feel good about using them for yourself and your family. And right now is a great time to start shopping because they are offering free shipping on all order $60.
And now for the giveaway. One lucky winner will receive one full size item of their choice. To enter, please visit Druide tell me which you would choose if you were the winner. Choose carefully because this is the one you will get if you win. For additional entries, you can do any of the following, but you must complete this initial entry first. Holiday Gift Guide -Flames & Wicks Candle Company Review & Giveaway
As the seasons start to change, its time to change your candles. I enjoy having candle scents that correspond to the matching season. Holiday candles are my favorite. I love the smells of winter and fall, like pumpkin pie and caramel apples. I also love candles that are hand poured. The candles from the small companies always seem to smell so much better than the big brands. At Flames & Wicks Candle Company I found some really original candles that are just perfect the holidays.
For our review, Flames and Wicks sent us the most amazing holiday spice candle. As soon as you light it, you will want to start singing Christmas carols. The scent is strong without being overpowering. It fills the whole house with fragrance and it is really getting us in the mood for the season. They are long lasting too. After five hours of straight burning, I have barely made a dent in it.Holiday Spice is only one of dozens of examples of wonderful candles you can find at Flames & Wicks. They also have some other terrific fall choices like Pumpkin Spice, Mulled Cider, and Apple Pie to name just a few. They are available in jars, pillars, votives, tarts, tealights and more. They also offer candle warmers, liquid potpourri, layered candles and more.
And now for the giveaway! One reader will receive a jarred candle in the scent of their choice. To enter, please visit Flames and Wicks and tell me something you would love to try. Holiday Gift Guide - Backyard Safari Outfitters Review
I love toys that encourage imaginative play. With my daughter, we love to pretend we're in a fairy world. With my son, we like to be adventurers. Sometimes we're pirates on the high sea, sometimes we are climbing Mount Everest, and sometimes we're in the mist of a jungle on safari. No matter what type of adventures your kids enjoy, the toys from Backyard Safari Outfitters are a wonderful way to enhance your expereince.
For our review, we received the Adventure Kit. This cool set is for children ages five and up. It comes with all the things your child will need for their safari adventures including a water tight case, retractable carabiner clip, pop up essential field guide and a working mini lantern. We set up a tent in our living room and my son packed up his adventure kit and was ready to go. The little lantern was a great way to see after the sun went down. He was able to store a few of his other favorite toys in the water tight case. And he loved reading the cool little pop up book. He felt like real explorer thanks to Backyard Safari Outfitters.
In addition tot he Adventure Kit, Backyard Safari Outfitters has many other wonderful toys that are essential for any future explorer or scientist, including binoculars, blow darts, animal whisperers, bug habitats and more. Any of these toys would make a great gift this holiday season. So what are you waiting for, check out Safari Outfitters and get your kids geared up and ready to explore their worlds both real and imaginary.

Freddi the Dog Book Review
Anyone who has ever had puppy, is going to the love the children's book "Freddi the Dog". Its all about a lovable pup named Freddi who has a naughty bone. That naughty bone gets her into trouble. For example, she has a tendency to eat things. When her family goes out for the day, Freddi thinks that everything she sees is food. The couch looks like a chocolate bar, a belt looks like licorice, and homework books look like toast. Freddi gobbles it all down, and gets so sick her family has to take her to the vet. But don't worry, the vet makes things all better.
"Freddi the Dog" is an adorable story that teaches kids the importance of moderation and not to be afraid of the doctor. Its also funny because I know we went through a similar problem with our dog when she was a puppy. She chewed up everything. The illustrations in this book are adorable and the storyline is hilarious. Kids everywhere are going to love this story.
To learn more about Freddi the Dog, you can visit their interactive website. There you will find fun games, contests and more, all in a safe environment for kids. Children will enjoy the story and have lots of fun playing with Freddi online. The book is available for only $10.00 and would be a great addition to any child's book shelf.

Holiday Gift Guide - Ghyslain Chocolate Review & Giveaway
I love chocolate. Its a big weakness for me. Recently, I came across a little shop called Ghyslain who has taken chocolate to a whole new level. Not only is their chocolate a rich and decadent treat that will melt it your mouth. Each piece is also a beautiful work of art. They offer beautiful truffles and medallions and even chocolate that is carved into delicate shapes like high heels. These beautiful chocolates are so unique you hate to eat them. But once you get even one small nibble, you won't be able to stop yourself from wanting more.
For our review, I received one of their adorable hand painted snowmen as well as a six piece holiday assortment of truffles and medallions. I have heard of edible art. But I have never seen anything quite like this. The detail of this little snowman is amazing. You can see his eyes, his nose, even every tiny flecks on snow. He even comes with four little babies that are filled with vanilla cream. My kids were amazed by it. So much so that they didn't even want to eat it. But I'm glad we did. The taste of the chocolate is as pleasing to your taste buds as the the masterful artwork of the chocolatier is to your eyes. The assortment was just as amazing. Each piece was lovely to look at and even better to eat. They offer some unique flavors like egg nog and peanut putter and jelly. Each one is a gourmet piece of heaven.
These are only a few examples of so many tasty choices available at Ghyslain Chocolate. They have dozens of other options to choose from. Their prices are very reasonable for such high end, gourmet chocolate, shipping is quick, and ordering is secure. Chocolate makes a wonderful gift for the holidays and its also a great indulgent treat for yourself. So check out Ghyslain Chocolate today. Right now would be a great time to make a purchase. Holiday Gift Guide - Pocoyo Water Taxi Review & Pocoyo World Giveaway
Willow is getting bigger and bath time is starting to be a fun event instead of a chore. She loves splashing around in the water and it was time to get her some new toys to enjoy while she's bathing. Since Pocoyo is one of her favorite characters, the Pocoyo Water Taxi was a great choice for her.
The Water Taxi is an adorable bath toy. It comes with a Pocoyo figure dressed in his scuba gear. But its so cute because his little toes are sticking out. The taxi is actually three different marine animals attached to a string. There is a giant fish, star fish and a octopus. Pocoyo can ride both the fish and the starfish. Willow loved pulling him around in the water and watching him float. Its great because the pieces are are pretty solid so there are no choking hazards. At only $9.99, its a fun and affordable gift for children and toddlers this holiday season. This and all the Pocoyo toys are available nationwide in retailers like Toys R Us and can also be found online at Amazon.
In addition to the new line of toys, Pocoyo also has a exciting new online world for kids to explore. It offers educational games and a safe online environment for kids. And one lucky New Age Mama reader is going to get to experience the fun for free. One winner is going to receive a code so they can try out Pocoyo World. To enter, just visit Pocoyo World website and tell me something interesting you saw there. This will be the only entry for one. Giveaway will end on 12/18 and is open to the US only.

Kaplan Tutoring Test Drive Follow Up Review
For the last few months, my daughter and I have been participating in the Kaplan Test Drive hosted by Mom Central. Kaplan is an online tutoring program for children in kindergarten through 8th grade. In the last few weeks we have gone through the registrations and learned how to navigate the site. It has been a fun process and wasn't difficult at all. My daughter has always struggled with reading and I have tried dozens of different things, but nothing has worked as well as Kaplan.
Both my daughter and I have our own user names and passwords. So she can go online whenever she wants and can practice both math and reading. And I can log on to see what she has accomplished. The first step was for her to take an evaluation test to see where her strengths and weaknesses are in both reading and math. She was lead through a variety of multiple choice questions with varying levels of difficulty. She was determined to be at a third grade level, even though she's in fourth grade now. So over the next few weeks, every time we had extra time, I let her log on to Kaplan. The activities are set up more like games than school work, and this really encouraged her to want to do it. She would stay online about a half hour to an hour at a time. The questions offer multiple choice answers and explain the correct answer whether she got in right or wrong. Their are stories to read and questions about reading comprehension and in the math section they practice things from adding to fractions. After several weeks of practice, her reading and math levels have both improved. She's not all the way to a fourth grade level yet, but I am confident that with a little more practice and Kaplan's help, she will be able to achieve this goal.
All in all, I was very pleased with the whole Kaplan experience. They have made learning fun for kids and its easy for the parents to track the children's progress. And as an added bonus, they also offer a reward zone for the kids. The more they accomplish, the more points they can accumulate. They can trade in their points for sweepstakes entries or even save them up and trade them in for things like Amazon gift cards. This really helps the program to pay for itself in even more ways than one. I definitely plan on continuing my subscription with them after the test drive is over, I hope my readers will will consider Kaplan if you find that your own child is struggling.
***I wrote this review while participating in a Test Drive Program by Mom Central on behalf of Kaplan and received the products necessary to facilitate my review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate***

Holiday Gift Guide - Rothschild Jackets Review & Giveaway
Its getting colder and that means its time to get out the winter jackets. The holidays are a great time to pick up a cute jacket as a gift, because the necessities are just as much fun as the toys. I know my oldest daughter loves to get stylish clothes as a gift. At Rothschild, you can find beautiful and stylish jackets for kids of all ages.
For our review, we were sent the adorable Ruffles and Bows Baby Girl Jacket in pink. While no baby loves getting into a bulky jacket, this one is definitely a little better than most. It isn't as bulky but still provides plenty of warmth. The color is a nice shade of pink that won't get dirty as easily as lighter colors. There is an adorable faux fur rim around the hood and ruffles on the back. I had no trouble getting Willow in and out of it and once she was used to it, she seemed pretty happy to have it on.
In addition to baby jackets, Rothchild also offers a full line of jackets for boys and girls in sizes from newborn to 16. Right now would be a great time to check them out because they are having an amazing store wide sale. Now through December 9th you can save 40% off your order plus get free shipping on all orders by entering the code THANKU40.
In honor of the holiday season, one lucky winner is going to receive the same Ruffles and Bows Baby Girl Jacket in size 18 months that I received to review. Hannah and the Talking Tree Review
I try to teach my children every day about the importance of living a green life and caring for the world we live in. I love finding books that help to present this message in a fun and interesting way. Recently we received a wonderful book called "Hannah and the Talking Tree" which really helps children understand the importance of trees and nature.
Hannah is an adorable little girl with REALLY big ears. Her ears are so big, she can hear things like the wind singing and the ants marching. Hannah is proud of her ears, but the other kids make fun of her. So she runs away in the woods to be with nature. There she meets a tree who tells her how lonely he's been since all his friends were cut down. When the tree cutter comes back for him, Hannah must go back her town and get help to save her friend the tree.
"Hannah and The Talking Tree" is a excellent tale of environmentalism but it also teaches the value of self acceptance. Hannah was different but she learns that her differences made her special. She would never have been able to save the tree without her big ears. So in this moving and motivational story, you will find two valuable life lessons.
"Hannah and the Talking Tree" by Elke Weiss is available at most bookstores online. To learn more about this book and many other wonderful children's tales, you can visit Free Focus Publishing.

Holiday Gift Guide - Schleich Bayala Action Figures Review
I have always taught my kids to believe in the magic of fairy tales. And if you were to find that magic portal that lead you through the mists into the world of fairies, it would lead you to the magical world of Bayala from Schleich. As a lover of all things fantasy, these are toys that are just so beautiful, I was tempted to keep them for myself as collectibles instead of letting the kids play with them. But in the end, the mom in me won out and I gave them to the kids. The beautiful action figures inspired endless hours of imaginative play, and they both loved the detail and beauty of each piece.
We received several of the newest Bayala figures to review. For my daughter, we received Feya the standing fairy, a Pegasus and a unicorn. They are so detailed and life like, you will find it hard to believe they are plastic and not glass figurines. You can see see the contours of the fairy's face, the lines of her hair, and each delicate finger. You can feel the ridges of the wings on the pegausus and the horn of the unicorn. And it is all enhanced by the sparkles and glitter that make them really seem to come to life.
My son received Apricum and Gregis. Apricum is a warrior who is half man and half deer who comes with his stag partner. To anyone who is familiar with the tales of the old religion or the stories of King Author, they might notice that he is very similar to the ancient tales of the horned god of fertility. Gregis is a wolf man, and reminiscent of a cave men from the stone ages with his fit furry feet and shoulders. My son loves having these two characters meet up and form an interesting new alliance. Though my daughter had them feuding over the lovely Freya.
With such amazing and beautiful toys, children's minds will open up to a whole world of imagination. After playing with her Bayala figures, my daughter had a whole story thought up about them that she wrote down, and which is actually pretty good. Anything that encourages such creativity you know is a great find. I plan to collect all the Bayala figures for my children. Because you can never have too much magic in your life.***Please note that I received no form of monetary compensation for this post.
