Its fall and time to harvest. Apples are a big part of the fall season, and one of my favorite things. This time of year, I always tell my kids the story of Johnny Appleseed and how he planted apple trees all across America as it was being settled, and all the wonderful foods that everyone made from those apples. Eating yummy apple treats made by Musselman's has always been a big part of fall, and its a tradition I am happy to pass on to my children.
Musselman's was nice enough to send my family their apple butter and cider, along with a few yummy recipes to really get a feel for the season. My husband is the cook in the family and as soon the box arrived he got right to baking the Apple Cheesecake Pie. It is made with a ginger snap crust and was soooo good. A glass of cider was the perfect compliment to this apple delicacy.
Here is the recipe is you'd like to try it for yourself:
- 1 graham cracker pie crust shell
- 1 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. MUSSELMAN'S Apple Butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Beat cream cheese. Add sugar, apple butter, eggs, lemon juice and vanilla extract. Mix well. Pour into graham cracker crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool before serving.
Makes 10 servings
This is only one example of hundreds of amazing apple recipes you can make using Mussleman's products. For more recipes and lots of other fun stuff, check out the Musselman's website or follow them on face book. Remember, it just isn't fall without apples and Musselman's.
