Winter's Tail DS Game Review

There are so many video games out there. It isn't easy to choose the best ones for our younger children. So many of them are violent. Some just seem like a waste of time. To find one that is not only educational but touching is rare. But that is exactly what you'll get if you purchase Winter's Tail for DS.

Winter is a dolphin just like any other dolphin. Except that she got stuck in a crab trap when she was only three months old and lost her tail. The DS game tells you the story of Winter and how she was able to swim again with the help of a synthetic tail. The computer will read the story and the words are highlighted as it goes along so your child can follow along. After each chapter there are games to play, like helping the engineers to build Winter's tail. Once the story is over,  you can write your own stories or make your own artwork.

This game is one of the best ones I've come across since my kids started to play the DS. It encourages my children to read and they really cared about what was going to happen to Winter. I kind of have a soft spot for her myself. Winter's Tail is an inspiring story of a little animal who didn't give up and the wonderful people who took the time to help her. It only took two days for my kids to complete the whole story/game, but they liked it enough to go back and read the whole thing several more times.

If you would like to learn more about Winter, check out the Winter's Tail website. There are some cute games and lots of information about her story as well as links to buy the game for your DS. Right now its available at Amazon for $29.82 and qualifies for free super saver shipping. I highly recommend this game for anyone with grade school children. It will help them to read while teaching them compassion.
