Moo Kitty Finds a Home by Valerie Lee Veltre is a new children's book with an important message brought to you by the cutest cat you'll ever want to meet!

Moo Kitty Find A Home is an uplifting story about an adult cat who loses his owner and comes to find a new home and happiness with a new owner.  It is a sensitive story filled with hope, faith and goodness.  After Moo Kitty, aptly named due to his "cow-like" black spots on his white fur, loses his adult owner, he finds himself on his own.  He is not alone for long though, as three angel cats appear to him as "winged beings" providing him with courage and strength.  Throughout the story, the trio accompany Moo Kitty as he is generously retrieved by a human who leads him to a shelter and safety.  One fine day soon after arriving at the shelter, Moo Kitty is adopted by a  family. Moo knows that the little girl in this family  was his "special human" of the bunch and finds happiness once more.

The story has a great message for kids.  Not only does it accentuate the need for the adoption of adult pets, a situation that I admit I did not know anything about, it also makes children more aware of the world they live in and introduces them to the charitable adults who are willing to care for the creatures who can not take care of themselves.  In a world where we are constantly encouraging our children to get involved in the world around them and make a difference, this could be a cause they might embrace.  To that point, there is great information in the back of the book including benefits and tips for adopting and adult pet.

This delightful and wonderfully illustrated children's book carries an important message for animal lovers of all ages. Moo Kitty Finds a Home is an uplifting, inspiring tale that courageously tackles a serious issue in our time in a way that kids can understand and affect in a  positive way.

 

 

The author, Valerie Lee Veltre, studied creative writing at East Stroudsburg university.  She was inspired to write and illustrate her first book, Moo Kitty Finds a Home, after she rescued real-life Moo Kitty and gave him a forever home.  My thoughts:  With hundreds of children's books to choose from, I have gotten very particular.  I like to choose books for my children that teach them something, and Moo Kitty Finds a Home is definitely that type of book. This book follows the journey of a little cat that was abandoned.  This is a topic that is near to our hearts because our own cat, Stripes, was an abandoned cat. He showed up on my doorstep, half starved and infested with fleas. He was fixed and declawed, so I know he hadn't been born a stray. But in our little tourist town, some people come down for the summer, get a pet, then leave it behind. Its sad but true. I think that is what happened to Stripes because even though we left "found" signs at every vet, shelter, and store for miles, no one ever claimed him.  While we were reading about Moo, we wondered if our own cat had gone through a similar experience, and we hoped that if he did, he had angels to guide him to us, just like Moo. This adorable story is an uplifting tale for any cat lovers. The illustrations are beautiful, and the story teaches kids awareness about animals in need.
