Queen
Victoria is one of the most powerful women the world has ever known. Jenna
Coleman (Doctor Who) stars as the young queen at the outset of her epic
reign, which set the stage for an entire era that would be named in her honor. The run time of each season of
Victoria is 480 minutes.
My Thoughts
Victoria is a series that takes you back to the 1800s and gives you a glimpse into the life of queen Victoria and her king, Albert. Season 2 picks up with Victoria and Albert newly married and starting a family of their own. She struggles to balance raising her children with ruling, especially in the midst of one crisis after another. Victoria faces the Potato Famine, political movements, and revolutions in neighboring countries.
This is a great series that gives us a look at one of the world's most powerful women and longest ruling monarchs. I love how they portray the relationship between the couple. I've read many biographies about Victoria, and know that she and Albert really were in love, though they did have their challenges. This series stays reasonably true to historical events, and the costumes and sets are stunning. Anyone who is a fan of the show needs to have this DVD in their collection. If you have a lady in your life who enjoys the show or the Tudor dynasty, this would make a great holiday gift for anyone who enjoys history.
