LeapFrog Party with New Age Mama @LeapFrog

***Complimentary product received in exchange for an honest review***

With four kids between the ages of two and thirteen, LeapFrog has been a part of my life for many years. When my oldest daughter was struggling with reading, it was her LeapFrog Tablet that helped her overcome her insecurities. Today my younger daughter is preparing for pre-school and the new LeapFrog LeapReaders are the perfect tool. I was so excited to be able to host a party and share some of these great products with my friends and family.

First off, we had to invite some people over. LeapFrog provided the invitations and we sent them out to friends. This Sunday, the day of our party finally arrived and it was pandemonium as we got everything set up.  We had tons of games, snacks, and worksheets to help kids of all ages practice their reading and writing.

The party pack also came with two LeadReaders, one for my family to test out and one to award to a guest. Once they were distributed the kids were able to try out the LeadReaders for themselves. The system resembles a large pen or stylus. When you press the buttons on the pen, it sing songs, plays games, and reads along with the LeadReader books and flash cards. The start up set comes with one pen and a sample book that contains pages from a variety of different level workbooks to give you an idea of how it works. The system is very easy to use. The kids at the party needed a little assistance to get started, but once they got the hang of it, even the preschoolers were able to handle the LeapReader independently.

When the kids press the pen against the pages of the book or cards, it reads the information to them. The pen will tell the story, all the while teaching the kids phonics and reading skills. You can read straight through or have more difficult words sounded out. There are also games to play on different pages of the book. The LeaperReader is a system that really makes reading interactive and fun. I like it a lot better then my old system, because its more compact and there are no cartridges to lose. Because its similar to a handheld stylus, there are even activity books that allow children to write and trace their letters. Another great bonus is there are no batteries. You simply plug the system into your computer to charge. The LeadReader is an educational toy that will last for many years. The reading levels progress along with your child and there are book choices well into the grade school age group.

The books and flash cards are wonderful as well. The kids at our party took turns reading them and each one was a big hit. For the preschoolers we had Getting Ready for Kindergarten which teaches colors, shapes number and more. The older kids love the 3D Monsters University story that had lots of monsterific games along with a fun tale. These are only a few examples of the books. You can find workbooks with all  your favorite characters including Dora the Explorer, Disney Princesses and so many more.

In addition to the reading stories, we tried tons of activities in the Deluxe Activity sets. Many of these are one-time-use only, but you get your money's worth with over 700  activities in one box. They can trace all their letters and the LeadReader even gives them step by step instructions to draw them just right. The simplest in the series starts out with just letters but as they progress they can practice spelling full words. There are also flashcard sets that can be used again and again, with or without the LeadReader, to practice spelling words and matching them to pictures.

All in all, our party was a fantastic success. At the end of the day, all the kids were awarded with a LeapFrog badge to celebrate their reading achievements. It was a fun day for parents and kids alike and I know we will be using our LeadReader daily to help my little ones get ready for school next year.
