Holiday Baking #Giveaway with Betty Crocker #GetYourBettyOn

The holidays wouldn't be complete without Betty Crocker. Their yummy cookies are an important part of our holiday celebrations. This year, we were lucky enough to receive an awesome gift basket just in time for the annual cookie exchange at my daughter's school. It's a fun event where the kids can do crafts, visit with Santa, and of course, enjoy lots of yummy cookies.

I admit, I'm not a master baker, but with Betty Crocker, even a terrible chef like me can make delicious cookies.

Using the two mixes I received in my gift basket, I was able to make some really awesome cookies! We made chocolate chip cookies shaped like gingerbread men and sugar cookies shaped like stars with a little frosting and sprinkles to make them extra special.

These are only a few of the holiday cookies you can create with a little help from Betty Crocker. One of my favorites is the Santa Sugar Cookies.

Ingredients

1cup butter or margarine, softened
1package (3 oz) cream cheese, softened
3/4cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
3 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 pouch (7 oz) Betty Crocker™ Cookie Icing red icing
Betty Crocker™ red sugar
1 pouch (7 oz) Betty Crocker™ Cookie Icing white icing
1 pouch (7 oz) Betty Crocker™ Cookie Icing blue icing
Red gum drops
Betty Crocker™ red cinnamon decors
  • 1 In large bowl, beat butter, cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and egg with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Stir in flour and salt until blended. Cover and refrigerate dough at least 2 hours but no longer than 24 hours.
  • 2 Heat oven to 375°F. On lightly floured cloth-covered surface, roll 1/4 of dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness. (Keep remaining dough refrigerated until ready to roll.) Cut dough with Santa cookie cutter; place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • 3 Bake 7 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely. Frost cookies with red icing; sprinkle with red sugar crystals. Decorate as desired using white and blue icing. Add gum drop for belt buckle and cinnamon candy for nose.
