Mastermind Board Game Review & Easter Giveaway

 My Easter shopping wouldn't be complete without at least one board game.  Sometimes something new is fun to try but its also exciting when I find that an old favorite is still around. Mastermind is one of the games I had when I was a kid, and I remember playing it with friends well into high school. Now thanks to Pressman, I can play it again with my own children. This exciting game of strategy and skill and is great way to encourage thought and get kids away from the TV for awhile.

In the game of Mastermind, one player is the code maker. That player sets up the codes using any of the four color pages.  The code breaker's job is to figure out the code. On every turn, the code breaker puts down a line of color pegs in an attempt to unlock the secrets. They will have ten chances to unlock the code, but its more exciting if you figure it out in less.  You take turns as the code maker and code breaker. Whoever has broken the most codes at the end of the game will be the winner.

Mastermind is designed for children eight and older. My two older children are eight and ten, so they were just the right age to try it out. They enjoyed the challenge of trying to outwit one another, and I was really impressed with how well the did. Its a great family game and I can see why is was voted a Dr. Toy Best Classic Toy back in 2009. This is one of those games that just never gets old. Plus Pressman has come up with some new additions like Sponge Bob and Disney, which are great for the younger members of the family but still provide the same fun challenge.
