Silky Oatmeal with Almond Silk #SwitchtoSilk & Giveaway (2 Winners)

Today is the tenth and final day of our Switch to Silk Challenge. This time we decided to make our oatmeal with Silk Pure Almond instead of water. We used a plain oatmeal just so we could see if it made any difference in the taste. All we had to do was heat the silk up in the microwave, pour, and stir.  Normally my son will only eat the instant oatmeal that is flavored with sugar and fruit, but he loved the oatmeal with the Silk in it. The almond gave it a hint of nutty flavor. But this variety of Silk and most of the others would all work great with the plain or flavored varieties as well.  If you prefer to use regular oatmeal, you will find a great recipe below directly from the almond silk website.

Almond Crunch Oatmeal

Making oatmeal with almondmilk results in a creamy, flavorful breakfast delight. Add fresh berries for even more flavor!

Ingredients

Topping:
1/2 cup quick or old fashioned oatmeal
1/4 cup sliced almonds
2 tablespoons honey

Oatmeal:
3 cups Silk Pure Almond Original or Vanilla
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 cups quick or old fashioned oatmeal

Method

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl toss together 1/2 cup oatmeal, almonds and honey. Spread on a baking sheet and bake until lightly toasted, about 5-7 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare oatmeal. In a medium saucepan bring Silk Pure Almond to a boil over medium heat. Stir in cinnamon and 2 cups oats and cook according to oatmeal package directions, usually about 2-3 minutes for quick oats, 5-7 minutes for old fashioned oats. Pour oatmeal into bowls and sprinkle with topping.
