Holiday Gift Guide - Jishaku™ Review & Giveaway

Since my kids are always playing with the magnets on the refrigerator, I had a feeling that they would love Jishaku.  My feeling was right on the money. Since this game arrived at our door, it one of the only things they want to play with from the second they get home from school. Its a welcome change from them heading for the video games and television.

Jishaku is a Japanese strategy game for ages eight and older. It uses finely polished hematite magnets as playing pieces. There are several ways to the play the game, but the most popular is called "I'm Out".  The object of the game is to take turns placing magnets in the game base without letting any of them connect. Sounds easy right? Well, here's the catch. The more magnets that are placed on the board, the stronger the magnetic pull becomes. Eventually, when the players least expect it, they all snap together. But the magnets have both South and North poles. Some will repel each other. The strategy of the game comes in when you try to learn where to put your pieces without making any of them connect.

This exiting game would make a welcome addition to any family game night and is the perfect choice for a holiday gift.  You can even step things up a notch by purchasing the classic wooden version. Kids and adults alike will have a great time playing Jishaku and it never gets boring. I still jump every time the magnets snap together.
