Holiday Gift Guide - Donsuemor Review & Giveaway

There is nothing better than sitting down with a hot cup of  hot coffee on a cold winter's night. Having a cookie or cake to go with it makes it even better.  Chocolate chip cookies and brownies are fine most days, but sometimes I crave something with a little more sophistication. At Donsuemor, you can find a large selection of scrumptious Madelines and other French baked delicacies that are sure to make you feel like you're lounging at a coffee house in Paris.

For my review, I received a a sampler box that included a few of each of the varieties of cakes from Donsuemor. The Madelines are available in traditional, chocolate, chocolate dipped, and lemon zest. They are lightly crispy on the ends but soft, buttery, and chewy in the centers. The French Almond cakes are delightful bite size morsels sprinkled with almonds on top and a light amaretto flavor. And my favorites are the cute cakes. They might look like regular cupcakes, but they are so much more. The cake is fresh and soft with a light sweet flavor that is not overpowering, and the top is made from crispy dark or white chocolate. Its a great way to get your chocolate fix.

 Donsuemor cakes are as elegant as they are tasty and would make a great addition to any Thanksgiving or Holiday Table. They would also make a great gift that anyone will appreciate. If you have a wedding, bridal shower, or baby shower coming up, they would also make for a fun and original dessert tray. While all the Donsuemor cakes can stand on their own, they are also a great way to serve up some unique dessert dishes. Here is just one example of the recipes you can use with the Madelines. It would be perfect for Thanksgiving.

Donsuemor Quick and Delicious Pumpkin Tiramisu

This recipe can be used throughout the year but adds beautiful elegance to your Thanksgiving table. You can make individual glasses of the tiramisu or make it in an 8x8 inch pan and serve as wedges. Garnish with whipped cream flavored with sugar and a dash of cinnamon.

2 cups chilled whipping cream

1 cup sugar

1 cup mascarpone cheese*

2 cups organic canned pumpkin puree

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground cloves

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

30 Donsuemor Traditional Madeleine Cookies

1/4 cup rum

In a mixer with fitted with a chilled metal bowl and beater attached, beat whipping cream and sugar until soft peaks form. Add the cheese, pumpkin, and spices; beating until smooth.

Line bottom of an 8 x 8 inch dish with the Madeleines, overlapping and crowding to fit. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons rum. Spread half of filling over Madeleines.

Repeat with the remaining Madeleines, remaining 2 tablespoons rum, and remaining filling. Smooth. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and then foil. Chill  in the refrigerator overnight.

To serve, run a knife around the sides of the pan. Cut into wedges and serve with a sweetened cream.
