My Thoughts

Big Tractors is a fun book that takes you on a tour of a farm. It teaches kids all about trackers. It explains how they work, the jobs they do on the farm, and even the history of tractors. It brings you back to the days when tractors were pulled by horses and goes through all the changes in shape and size until you reach the modern day version. It also explains the different parts of the trailers and how they work.

Casey is the narrator of the book, and she leads you on the adventure. The book has great illustration and pictures. There are tons of photos of real tractors and cartoon versions on the sidelines to give commentary as you move along in the book. There's also a cute worm sidekick who puts his two-sense in throughout the story

 My son loved all the pictures, but he's only four, and the book was a little too long and too wordy to hold his attention for very long. We only made it about halfway through before he lost interest entirely. My five-year-old daughter also got bored quickly. I think the book is better suited for children a little older than them--more the 7-10 age range. Children who are old enough to read independently will get a lot more out of this book.  Overall, the story is cute, and educational, but a little long-winded for small kids.
