Review & #Giveaway: Reser’s Fine Foods, Main Street Bistro...Dinner in Minutes

We all have those days, even those of us who fancy ourselves culinary experts and are constantly trying out new recipes we find on Pinterest or something. Sometimes, we just plain don't feel like cooking. There's no shame in it. Maybe it's too hot to slave away over the stove. Maybe you had back-to-back appointments. Maybe you're just tired.

Reser's Fine Foods is coming to the rescue with their Main Street Bistro line.

You can find selections of these dishes in most of your local supermarkets. Matter of fact, I went across the street and I saw two of their mashed potato choices in the deli department.

What I was sent to try:

Pasta Alfredo with White Chicken and Bacon. It was good. I baked this one as instruction. It was only 22 minutes at 350. While I will say my own Alfredo recipe is better, it's also a heck of a lot more time-consuming to make. Husband gave this a thumb's up as well. I appreciated the fact it was basic with no broccoli or mushrooms--things I hate that often end up in Alfredo dishes.

Penne Toscano with Italian Sausage. Husband liked it, I didn't. BUT I'm not fond of Italian sausage. I'm super picky about that meat. There's only like one or two brands I like. Again, this one is bake for 22 minutes at 350. The biggest convenience about these, I'd like to point out, is the lack of baking dishes to clean out later. You just throw the carton away. I also have to add, however, that though they promise to feed two people each, I found them rather small. I had to bake two at once to feed both my husband and I. He eats like a horse.

Baked Scalloped Potatoes

Baked Macaroni & Cheese. As a side dish, this was adequate for the both of us. I microwaved this one. The side dishes can be microwaved though it's recommended you bake them for the best outcome. We liked the fact that this was made with REAL cheese and not the powdered stuff. You don't feel like you're eating a kids' meal, but a real nice dinner. Taste: we felt it was average.

Baked Scalloped Potatoes. OMG! I had to scrape my eyebrows off the ceiling and calm myself down after taking my first bite of this. Husband felt it was average, but I was completely blown away by this side dish. I baked it and it was adequate for the both of us. I WILL certainly be looking for this side at my grocery stores. I hope I can find it. Wowza! The mustard taste was subtle, the cheese amazing...this was just really good.

So that concludes my thoughts. Now it's time for yours. Reser's is giving away a prize pack of the same or similar items, a retail value of $25, to one lucky U.S. resident. Contest
