Holiday Gift Guide - Barefoot Books Review & Giveaway

I love books. I am always reading something, and I think its important to encourage a love of reading from a very early age. I have read a book to all my children every night since they were born. Now my two older kids love reading to the little ones, and the bigger they get the more they enjoy it. Willow even turns the pages herself already and can point out pictures like dogs and balls. When it comes to books for children, Barefoot Books is a great little shop to find all the best stories. For our review, we received three fantastic books, and I am going to tell you a little about each one.

The Adventures of Odysseus- This book was the perfect choice for my family. My children have grown up watching Xena and Hercules, so we love Greek mythology. We even named our cat Hercules.  This book tells the tale of the seafaring Odysseus and his voyage home at a level that grade school children can understand and relate to.  Journey through time and teach your kids the story of the Trojan Horse, let them hear the song of the sirens, and battle the one eyed cyclops alongside the heroic Odysseus. The book is beautifully illustrated and comes with a DVD/CD combo to enhance the magic.

 

Winter Shadow - Winter Shadow is a chapter book that is perfect for tweens. My oldest daughter is eleven, and she read this book from cover to cover in one day. The book tells the story of a little girl named Maria who lives in the snowy north. One day she comes across an abandoned wolf cub. Her grandfather is hesitant about letting her raise the little animal at first. But before long, both Maria and the cub have captured the hearts of her whole village.

 

Over in the Meadow:  This is the book that was sent for my toddler, and she loves it. Over in the Meadow tells a tale of all the little animals that live in the meadow, from bunnies to toads. The illustrations are bright and colorful and really catch a child's attention. It also comes with a CD that has an animated video and sing a long version of the book.

Barefoot Books World Atlas: The World Atlas is a brand new addition to the Bare Foot family, and one they should be proud of. The beautifully illustrated hardcover is a wonderful way to get children interested in geography. In addition to maps, each page details the culture of the different countries across our beautiful and diverse planet. It also teaches about our fragile environment and the ways that we can help sustain it.

These are  only a few example of dozens of wonderful stories you can find at Barefoot Books.  They have lots of wonderful titles for children from birth to twelve years of age.  Titles include ABCs and 123s, fairy tale stories, pirate tales, games and more.  In addition to books, they also have puzzles, puppets and other cute gift ideas.
