Lazy Lizards Yoga Review & Giveaway

I love yoga. And my kids, especially my oldest daughter, loves to do whatever I am doing. She has been trying to do yoga with me at night. And while her youth makes her a lot more flexible than I am, not all the instructional DVDs are easy enough for her to follow along with.  Lazy Lizards Yoga understands that sometimes children need simpler instruction for their yoga routine and they created a DVD and yoga mat made just for kids.

Lazy Lizards Yoga takes all the basics of yoga and puts them in terms that children can understand.  Their DVD takes kids step by step through different poses, using animals as their guide. Pretending to be animals is a great way to encourage your kids to do this healthy exercise. It feels much more like a game instead of work when they watch the fun DVD and see other kids practicing along with them.

Yoga is a wonderful way to encourage healthy exercise. Its great for their bodies as well as their minds. It will build their self esteem while teaching them about patience and helping them calm their minds.  Both my son and daughter loved the instructional DVD from Lazy Lizards Yoga. The thirty minute routine was just long enough to hold their interest without tiring them out too much. They really felt like they had accomplished something when they finished it up.  I would recommend this DVD as well as the fun mat to anyone with kids who want to do yoga on their own or with mom.

Hip & Hippie Soy Candles Review

I think by now, everyone knows that our household is filled with peace loving hippies. So of course, any company with hippie in the title is going to grab my attention. When that company makes amazing soy candles, they are also going to get my undying loyalty.  I came across an awesome little company called Hip & Hippie and their candles are just as cool as their name.

I have tried out lots of candles over the years, but Hip & Hippie offers something that is a little different than any others I have seen to date. Actually, there are a few things that make these candles special. First, each one comes in a beautiful glass container that is embellished with a single symbol. You can choose from peace signs, hearts, butterflies, flowers and more. They are made from restaurant quality glass and can be used as drinking glasses once the candles burn out. If you opt for a tin container, they are great for organizing, but can also be recycled.  Secondly, each one comes with a little charm that you can use as jewelry or for a craft or decoration. But the coolest thing of all is that the lids and wrappers of the candles are made from seeded paper. You can actually plant the paper, and watch wildflowers begin to sprout. This company really gives new meaning to "green" products!

California Pizza Kitchen Spooky Jack-O-Lantern Pizza

California Pizza Kitchen  wanted me to share a ‘treat’ from the CPK Family Cookbook for  Halloween to get kids and parents into the Halloween spirit. Whip up a spooky Jack-O-Lantern pizza from America’s favorite casual dining destination at home. The pizza is easy to make, a great family activity and so much fun for kids. We can’t trick you! This is really a pumpkin pie on a pizza crust!

Ingredients: Pizza dough, confectioners’ sugar, pumpkin pie filling, mini chocolate chips, chocolate kisses, whipped cream, candy corn.

Preparation:

1)     Place the sugar in a fine-mesh strainer and sift a then, even layer of sugar over the dough. This will caramelize as the pizza bakes

2)     Transfer the pizza to the oven and bake for 5 min to set the dough. Once the crust has been partially cooked, spread with a thin layer of pumpkin pie filling and return to the oven for another 5 -10 minutes, or until the filling is set. Remove and allow the pizza to cool

3)     Decorate the pizzas using mini chocolate chips to represent the vertical lines, whipped cream for the eyes and mouth, chocolate kisses for the eyeballs, and the candy corn for the teeth.

Homeless for the Holidays DVD Review

Sometimes we all need a little reminder about what's important in our lives. A big fancy house and a high paying job might seem important, but nothing is more important than family. This is the lesson that you learn in "Homeless for the Holidays".

George Johnson is a big executive who loses his job right before Christmas. The only employment he can find is an embarrassing job where he has to dress like a penguin. But that isn't enough to cover his high mortgage. He finds himself in danger of losing his home. But in the mist of this financial crisis he learns what's really important. He builds  a better relationship with his wife and children, and they find that even if they are homeless for the holidays, the most important thing is that they are together.



"Homeless for the Holidays" is a wonderful family film. Its based on a true story and one that many people are going to relate to in these tough ecominc times. The performances of Matt Moore and Crystal Dewitt-Hinkle are flawless. This is a movie that will make you laugh and cry, and in the end, appreciate all the gifts you have. Its a great choice to add to your holiday film collection and something the whole family will enjoy.
